Angie Gilles is the artist behind The Freckled Bluebird. She lives on an acreage in Iowa with her family, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and ever-changing beauty of nature. You'll likely find Angie in the garden or her art studio, with a variety of projects always brewing. Whether she's growing flowers, creating artwork, or dreaming up something new, there's one common thread: a desire to create beauty from the ordinary. And the name? The Freckled Bluebird could be considered Angie's alter ego. With blue eyes, freckles, and a tendency to paint birds, The Freckled Bluebird is a whimsical reflection of the creative side of Angie that comes alive through her work.

As a novice grower, The Freckled Bluebird has kept things simple and sustainable. What started as a small patch of zinnias has grown into a 1/2-acre garden of native flowers, herbs, dahlias, and peonies. Fresh cut flowers were first sold in 2025 at the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market. In 2026, bouquets were made exclusively for guests of Panáche Tea Boutique.

Our art is inspired by flowers, nature, and the little things that make life beautiful. The Freckled Bluebird is about slowing down, noticing the beauty around us, and making space for creativity and wonder. From original artwork and prints to stickers, cards, bookmarks, and pressed flowers, each piece is made to bring a little creativity and wonder into everyday life.

There's always something new taking shape at The Freckled Bluebird. Explore the latest artwork, paper goods, stickers, pressed flowers, and other little pieces of creativity inspired by nature.
